There are still artisans working the most intricate patterns using the finest silk where they weave the fabric upside down to let the mass of this almost weightless silk form a slight “cushion” on the finished surface. The weavers learn the patterns as we learn our tables, they fall into an ingrained, inbuilt rhythm and it is as if their weaving becomes a meditation mantra. These fabrics are rarified, the weavers achieve a couple of centimetres a day and there can be three people working on the same loom.
The colours shown are traditional but other colours are possible. The finished fabric is quite dense. There is a minimum order of 30 metres of any design, To see the full range of traditional colours and patterns or to discuss bespoke colour please contact us.
